straws and camels

I really need Indiana to stop throwing straws on my back.

I never imagined how difficult a relocation would be, and I do not need help finding things to break down in tears over. Little things.

Just too many little things.

lurking, liking and comments

Well, I threw it out there today on Facebook. The blogs.

I added the websites to my Facebook profile.

It will be interesting to see who lurks over here to have a looksee. Even more interesting to see who comments.

They are two different worlds. Twitter and Facebook expose my life in 140 characters or less, and here we dive beneath the surface.

It all really hit me, this concept of blogging the contrast between these two social network worlds a couple of months ago when two different friends brought to my attention how they skim the surface of Facebook, throwing out the pieces they want others to see, but yet somehow missed that we had relocated 2400 miles across the county. Despite the photos and daily updates.

internet social networking and teens

So, I have been baffled by the teens who claim over a thousand "friends" on Facebook. According to Facebook, the average user has 130 friends. What does this say about today's young people and their relationships?

Rosalind Wiseman does an excellent job explaining the issue of internet social networking on today's schools and teens in her latest edition of Queen Bees Wannabees. During a recent parent meeting, I was really very pleased to hear the level of awareness of the administration at the girls' new school. They stated that most conflicts in the school originate from Facebook.

Opinions? How does FB affect your your child? Your classroom? Your 24/7 reporting? Your relationships?

push you out of the nest

If I stop enabling you will you stop engaging me.

This whole teenage phase really does make me want to push you out of the nest.

BUT on Facebook, to my friends, you will always be super cute, smart and perfect!

We don't even try to embarrass them, it just comes naturally!

We don't even try to embarrass them, it just comes naturally!

I love the 10X zoom on my camera so that I can still catch the smiles and laughs on my children's faces when they will no longer pose for me.

And if I post those photos to my Facebook album and tag them it is extra embarrassing, almost as bad as commenting on THEIR wall post in a sure-to-be-a-thread-kill way!

seek counseling later

After all, they will seek counseling when they are older, and it is our job is to provide them good material.

When kids do cute-adorable-clever-uber smart-cool stuff we have to stop right there and post it to our wall! Twitter it out there for everyone to know!

140 characters or less

We all post the witty Facebook status updates and Twitter random thoughts in 140 characters or less, BUT what do we really mean to say?
